About Ibotombi Institute of Education (IIE)

History :

MOIRANGTHEM IBOTOMBI MEMORIAL ACADEMY (MIMA)

is a non-profit private charitable trust founded in 2008 in the memory of eminent social worker and a visionary legislator from Manipur’s Heirok Assembly, the late Moirangthem Ibotombi. MIMA is committed to transforming the landscape of education in Manipur through comprehensive teacher training, educational technology and skill-based programmes. MIMA’s mission is to raise teaching standards, foster innovation in pedagogy, and empower teachers to create impactful learning experiences for every student. The use of ICTs in education aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning as well as democratize the access to education. Information and Communication Technology has a vital role in connecting the rural community to outside world for exchange of information, a basic necessity for economic development. MIMA, through the use of audio-visual technology aims to disseminate educational information to the reach the unreached and far-flung areas. Owing to the high unemployment rate, MIMA felt the need to develop a program to help the unemployed gained employment. The National Education Policy (NEP), 2020 and subsequent initiatives such as National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) emphasizes vocational training as means for skilling and increasing manpower for economic activities. Hence, MIMA envisaged to translate to employment opportunities for those who are unemployed. providing skill training to aspiring youth to accelerate the development and growth of the state.

Aims and Objectives of MIMA:

1. Promotion or spread of Education or learning in all its branches, primarily amongst the children, womenfolk and other weaker section of the society, the womenfolk of Manipur in such a manner of Manipur.

2. Establishment, acquisition/and maintenance or support of schools, study centres and other institutions for imparting education and training to students/teachers.

3. Establishment and/or construction or maintenance of support of Hostels and/or Boarding and lodging to poor and deserving students or providing boarding to orphans or women having no means or support of any kind.

4. Organizing competition/or competitions amongst school children in the field of Education in different disciplines from time to time as a continuous talent search programme and award such awards or fellowship.

5. Establishment of such stipend/or Fellowship/or lectureship scholarships and prizes at school, colleges and other Educational Centres/Institutes.

6. Establishment/and maintenance of Library, museums and reading rooms for advancement of education and knowledge in general.

7. Establishing and rendering helps to such projects taken up for the alleviation of poverty particularly involving those who have no supporting family.

8. Participating in the organization/s for fostering furtherance of Education in any branches and spread of knowledge.

9. Making grant in cash/or in kind to any institutions/organisations engaged in providing relief to the people affected known natural calamities.

10. Subscription or promotion of any organization or institution having similar aim and object with the Trust.

Legal Status of MIMA :

The Trust under the name and style of “Moirangthem Ibotombi Memorial Academy” was registered as a Private Charitable Trust as not for profit and bearing registration no. 959 of 2008 Under Indian Trust Act, 1882 (Registration Act, 1908) with its registered address at Kha Naorem Leikai, Canchipur, Imphal West District, Manipur state.

Management of MIMA :

The overall management of the Trust is vested with the Trustees. The trustee shall elect from among themselves a Chairperson and a Secretary. The Chairperson of the Trust shall be the nominal head of the Trust and the Secretary so elected will conduct the general active business of the Trust.

Vision of the MIMA :

To offer quality education and training for value-based skill development through establishment of institutions which complements to achieve effective learning outcomes, promote lifelong learning and exercise good citizenship.

 Resource center for education sector for reference and research.

 Center of excellence in production of audio-video programmes.

 Act as a front runner in economic sustainability of people through provision of skill enhancement.

 Contribute to the nation building process through its social responsibility activities and institutional support.
